IVF #1: Trigger Time!

Woop-woop! It’s trigger time, y’all! The “trigger shot,” typically administered 36 hours before egg retrieval, ensures that ovulation is perfectly timed.

I gave myself that shot tonight at 7:30. Which means…we are almost ready to go!

Holy crap. I’m so excited,

Egg retrieval is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Did I mention that I’m excited?

Thank you to everyone who responded to my last post. All of your stories and words of support made me feel so much better. And guess what? You were right! At my ultrasound this morning I had 16 follicles! No idea how many will be mature as some of them were only around 12mm, but wow! You can all say “I told you so” now. And I shall hereafter listen to everything you say without question, oh Wise Ones.

With that, I’m heading off to dreamland. ‘Til Saturday, my friends!

    1. I just read your post – sounds like your scan went really well. I can’t believe you’re having retrieval on your test day, though. UGH. Hopefully a doctor’s excuse will get you out of it!

  1. Oh i was so excited when I did the trigger too. Finishing all the needles was a big help with that! Good luck for Saturday. I hope it all goes well and you get lots of healthy eggies ready for fertilisation. x

    1. Yes, I am SO PSYCHED to be done with needles! I am praying for healthy fertilization for sure – your and g2the4thpower’s experience are definitely top of mind. We’ll see, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’ll be sure to report back! Xo.

    1. Thank you! 🙂 They are doing straight-up traditional IVF, which makes me a little (ok, maybe a lot) nervous, but we’ll see how it goes. My clinic does do rescue ICSI, though, so at least there is some kind of failsafe in place!

  2. So so excited for you, wish it was Saturday. Thank you for passing the wise words on to me too! Heres to lots of healthy eggs! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I know, I’m not sure how I will make it through the night tonight! I got basically no sleep last night – too many thoughts swirling around in my head. Do you follow g2the4thpower (she commented above)? I think you two are going to end up having retrieval on the same day!

      1. Yes I do follow g2the4thpower 🙂 It is great having people going through this at the same time. I am sure I will be like you too, no sleep! I am nervous enough just for this next scan, your brain just goes into overdrive with all the possible scenarios! I will be watching out for your update! Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you. x

    1. LISA! You’re here! I was wondering if you were still reading. I know this is kind of nutter to say because we’ve never actually met, but I totally miss you. I think of you often and hope you and your family are doing well. Xo.
